1. Plot Summary

Zom 100: Bucket list of the dead is a zombie themed anime series packed with horror, action and comedy elements. The story revolves around a guy named ‘Akira Tendo’ and his survival in Zombie Apocalypse. Akira got a job for himself and was really excited about it at the start but soon he finds out the dark reality of his industry. He was forced to overwork from day one, but still he managed to do that job for three years. He was exhausted, had no personal life and didn’t want to work any longer.

One day when he wakes up in the morning and gets ready to go to the office, he finds out that there is a zombie outbreak in the world. Since he no longer has to work anymore, he was happy like never before. He then decides to make a bucket list of things he wants to do before he turns into a zombie himself.

2. Unique Concept

Zom 100: Bucket list of the dead though being a zombie themed anime, it is not at all like a Zombie series or a movie you had watched before. There are hundreds of Zombie themed series and movies, where a main character is struggling for his survival, wanting to save his close ones and save the world.

Unlike other series and movies this anime is not about survival. Bucket list concept is what makes this anime stand out from others. Where other people are struggling for survival, our main character feels like he is finally free, and it is a new beginning for him. Such as positive thinking, isn’t it?

3. Characters

Akira Tendo, the protagonist of Zom 100: Bucket list of the dead undergoes significant character development, from being worn-out because of his job and has no desire to work or live to creating a bucket list of things he wants to do before he turns into zombie himself shows his desire to live life to the fullest. Zombie Outbreak leads him to the path of self-discovery. Zom 100 has introduced two other important characters so far, Shizuka who is one of the survivors and Kenichiro Ryuuzaki or Kencho who is a bestfriend of Akira, and both of them are expected to play significant roles in Akira’s adventurous journey.

4. Animation

Zom 100: Bucket list of the dead is a manga series, and its anime adaptation took place recently which is done by BUG Films premiered in July 2023. Zom 100 has quickly gained popularity and one of the main reasons is the exceptional animation. Color saturation is nicely done and looks cool. Unlike other zombie & horror animes, they haven’t kept the dull or dark color tone. Since this anime is a horror & comedy genre its color saturations work well. Animation is smooth and top notch and won’t disappoint the viewers.

5. Music

Zom 100 has pretty good Opening song named “Song of the dead” which isn’t scary or creepy, so it goes well since the anime isn’t that scary. The ending song “Happiness of the dead” is not that great. The overall soundtrack and sound effects are impressive. Different scenes have different soundtracks and each one suits well for each scene. The background music is well chosen and tracks placement is done well. Overall music and soundtracks make the viewers’ experience even better.
